If any of these sound familiar,
talking with a therapist may help.

The teen and young adult years bring a lot at once: school and social pressure, social media, identity, first jobs, leaving home, and relationships that feel all-consuming. When stress turns into anxiety, low mood, shutting down or risky behavior, it can be hard for a young person to ask for help, and hard for parents to know what to do. Brain Repair offers a confidential, judgment-free place for teens and young adults to talk, and practical skills to handle what they're facing.

How therapy works for young people

The first 50-minute session is about getting comfortable and understanding what's going on. For teens under 18, we usually meet with the parent or guardian and the teen together first, then with the teen on their own. After that, sessions are usually weekly.

Therapy is practical, not just talk. Young people learn skills they can use the same day, like calming down when overwhelmed, handling conflict with parents or friends, managing school stress and making decisions they feel good about. Brain Repair specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which was built to help people manage intense emotions and is widely used with adolescents. It also draws on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

Privacy and the parent's role

For therapy to work, teens need to trust that what they share stays private. Therapy with minors is confidential. We encourage parents to take part, with the young person's consent, whether that's joining some sessions or learning the same skills at home. We'll go over how confidentiality works, including its limits, at the first visit.

DBT skills group

Older teens and young adults may also benefit from our 12-week DBT Skills Group, which has rolling admission and encourages family involvement.

Cost and insurance

Sessions are $150–250. Brain Repair doesn't bill insurance directly. For PPO plans, we provide a superbill you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
