  • Career Stress: Facing job instability, dissatisfaction, or challenges with work performance.

  • Difficulty Managing Mental Health: Experiencing persistent emotions or behaviors that are difficult to control or overcome.

  • Grief and Loss: Struggling with prolonged grief, difficulty adjusting to life after a loss, or ongoing sadness.

  • Life Transitions and Adjustments: Facing challenges related to co-dependency, medical issues, or environmental changes.

  • Lack of Meaning or Purpose: Feeling lost, stuck, or uncertain about direction in life.

  • Relationship Challenges: Experiencing poor communication, unmet emotional needs, or attachment issues.

  • Trauma Symptoms: Dealing with hypervigilance, intrusive thoughts, or disrupted functioning as a result of past trauma.

  • Other: Any other concerns not listed above.

If you answered yes to any of the above,
you may benefit from individual therapy.
How Does Individual Therapy Work?

When you schedule an appointment with a therapist who aligns with your needs, your first session will typically be 50 minutes long. During this time, we'll focus on building a therapeutic relationship and assessing your initial symptoms.

In the following 2-3 sessions, we'll continue gathering additional information, refine our understanding of your needs, and begin to form an initial treatment plan. This plan will guide the structure of future sessions, which will include clinical interventions aimed at achieving your specific treatment goals.

For optimal results, we recommend weekly sessions at the start of therapy. In-person meetings are our preferred method for conducting adult therapy.

What Happens During an Individual Therapy Session?

In a private, comfortable setting, you'll be seated in cozy chairs as we maintain a clinical framework that allows you to openly express, explore, and process experiences that are causing you distress. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where you feel at ease to delve deeper into your life and uncover both conscious and unconscious aspects of yourself. When appropriate, we'll engage with you to help reframe significant events and explore different perspectives.

Each session may vary, depending on the areas you choose to focus on. Your level of engagement—or lack thereof—provides us with valuable insights to guide the direction of the therapy, ensuring it aligns with your current needs while keeping your long-term goals in mind.

We strive to balance a client-centered approach with clinician-guided expertise, always maintaining a focus on your treatment objectives.

The methods we use depend on your specific needs. At times, we may incorporate educational tools like worksheets, videos, or cognitive-behavioral techniques on a whiteboard. Additionally, we may integrate mindfulness practices, particularly when working through anxieties or phobias in exposure therapy. Ultimately, we view your progress in therapy as a balance between the art of personal exploration and the science of clinical methods.

How Long Does Individual Therapy Last?

The duration of therapy depends on several factors, including the severity of symptoms, the level of need, and the pace at which progress is made. We are committed to ensuring that therapy lasts only as long as necessary for your mental well-being, being mindful of your time, finances, and desire for independence. Once most of your treatment goals are achieved, the frequency of sessions may be reduced to bi-weekly, monthly, or adjusted as needed

Once your therapeutic goals, as outlined in your initial treatment plan, have been met, we will discuss a potential termination date for your therapy. However, we are always available to support you should new challenges arise, and our door remains open for future sessions if needed.
